Troubleshooting Illegible Text in the Product Catalog Dashlet

Overview

The Product Catalog dashlet allows users to easily access the Product Catalog directly from a record (e.g., opportunities) to view and add active products from the catalog as line items. In certain circumstances, users may experience issues reading the text (e.g., product categories, product names) in the dashlet as it appears illegible. The SugarCRM team is aware of the impact of this issue caused by the browser and is considering this for a future release. For affected customers, this article covers information on how to work around this issue.

Symptoms

When logged in to Sugar using the Chrome browser on Windows or Mac, users may have a hard time reading and interacting with the catalog in the Product Catalog dashlet due to illegible text. You can work around this issue by changing the default ANGLE graphics in the Chrome browser as covered in the section below.

Resolution

To work around this issue, you will need to change the default setting for the ANGLE graphics backend experimental feature in your Chrome browser using the steps below. To get a better understanding of Chrome's experimental feature flags and the potential risks with using them, please see the Experimental Features page on the ChromeOS website.

  1. Enter chrome://flags/ in Chrome's address bar.
  2. Press Ctrl+F (command+F on Mac) and enter "ANGLE" to find the "Choose ANGLE graphics backend" feature.
  3. Select "OpenGL" in the dropdown field.
    • For Chrome on Windows
      ChooseANGLEGraphics_Windows1
    • For Chrome on Mac
      ChooseANGLEGraphics_Chrome_Mac2

Once this setting has been changed, the text in the Product Catalog dashlet should be legible.
